Albany, N.Y. – Sensitive plants across parts of the Catskills could be at risk early Monday as temperatures dip into the mid-30s and a Frost Advisory goes into effect through 7 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, areas in western Greene and western Ulster counties will see overnight lows between 33 and 36 degrees from 2 to 7 a.m. Monday, June 2. Frost may form, especially in sheltered valleys, posing a danger to gardens and unprotected outdoor vegetation.
Temperatures in Albany, Saratoga Springs, and Glens Falls are expected to hover around 39 to 41 degrees, while higher elevations such as Caroga Lake and Windham could bottom out near 36. Monticello, Herkimer, and Indian Lake may dip as low as 37.
Residents in affected areas are urged to bring sensitive plants indoors or cover them with breathable fabric. While no travel impacts are expected, the chilly start to June is well below normal for the region.
This cold snap will be brief. Temperatures are expected to rebound by Tuesday, but additional advisories remain possible if clear skies persist overnight.
