Mobile, Alabama – Drivers across southern Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle could encounter dangerously low visibility this morning as dense fog blankets the region through 9 a.m. CDT.
According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for Butler, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, and Escambia counties in Alabama, as well as inland portions of Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties in Florida. Visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less in many areas, making travel especially hazardous on rural highways and secondary roads.
Cities including Evergreen, Brewton, Andalusia, Crestview, and Milton are experiencing fog that may significantly reduce visibility during the morning commute. Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra following distance.
The advisory covers key stretches of U.S. Route 29, State Route 55, and other roadways prone to low-lying fog. Commuters should expect delays and allow additional travel time.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve after 9 a.m., though isolated patches of fog may linger in shaded or low-lying areas. Another update is not expected unless conditions worsen.
