Aggravated Battery Arrest Made After Stabbing in Peoria

Peoria, IL – A man was hospitalized following a stabbing early Tuesday on NE Jefferson Street, according to Peoria police.

Officers responded to the 400 block of NE Jefferson at 12:51 a.m. after receiving reports of trouble involving a man. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male with a stab wound to his arm. Emergency crews transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials stated his injuries were non-life-threatening.

While investigating, police located and questioned 32-year-old Jacob J. Mitchell at the hospital. Authorities say Mitchell admitted to stabbing the victim during the incident. Following the interview, police determined Mitchell committed the act.

Officers arrested Mitchell for aggravated battery and transported him to Peoria County Jail. Officials did not release details about a motive or the relationship between Mitchell and the victim.
