Ann Arbor, MI – Police are investigating an alleged hate crime that targeted a 19-year-old Jewish man in downtown Ann Arbor on Friday. The victim was assaulted near Hill Street and S. Forest around 12:45 a.m. by a group of unknown men after confirming he was Jewish.
According to the Ann Arbor Police Department (AAPD), the group assaulted the victim and fled on foot. The victim suffered minor injuries that did not require hospitalization. The attack was reported to police later that day.
Authorities are working to identify the suspects and are treating the case as a bias-motivated crime. The Anti-Defamation League is offering a $5,000 reward, while the Council on American-Islamic Relations Michigan Chapter is adding $1,000 for any information leading to arrests.
