La Porte County, IN – A single-vehicle crash in La Porte County early this morning claimed the life of a Michigan woman. Deputies responded at 2:05 a.m. to the 8400 north block of CR 500 East, where a beige 2005 Buick Century had left the roadway and collided with a tree.
Deputy Alexander Nolan led the initial on-scene investigation. The Buick, driven by Brandy B. Hardaway, 29, of Buchanan, Michigan, was traveling north on CR 500 East when it veered off the east side of the road. The vehicle then crossed both lanes, left the west side, and crashed into a tree.
Hardaway, the lone occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency services, including La Porte County EMS and the Kankakee Township Volunteer Fire Department, provided assistance.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the accident, and toxicology test results are pending. The investigation continues, and no further details are currently available.
