Joppatowne, MD – A Maryland man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he allegedly impersonated a law enforcement officer, prompting an investigation in Harford County.
According to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies first encountered the suspect on April 30, 2026, after observing a vehicle displaying red and blue emergency lights. When questioned, the driver allegedly identified himself as a police officer and presented what appeared to be official credentials.
Investigators later determined the individual was not a sworn law enforcement officer in Maryland. Detectives launched a follow-up investigation, working alongside Maryland State Police to confirm the findings.
On May 1, 2026, authorities identified the suspect as 56-year-old Robert Dicocco and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to the Harford County Detention Center and later released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
During the execution of search warrants, investigators recovered a range of law enforcement-style items, including badges, tactical vests labeled “Police” and “U.S. Marshal,” identification cards, and other gear consistent with impersonation.
Authorities say Dicocco was charged with 10 counts related to impersonating a police officer. The investigation remains ongoing.
