Knox County, Maine – Authorities are investigating the death of a missing Thomaston man whose body was discovered earlier this month in neighboring Waldoboro, raising questions across the Midcoast region.

According to Maine State Police, 64-year-old Darryl Sanborn of Thomaston was last seen April 5 in Waldoboro. The Waldoboro Police Department requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central on April 7 as part of a missing person investigation.

Officials said that on April 17, a person walking along a dirt road off Wagner Bridge Road in Waldoboro discovered the body of an adult male. The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy was performed.

Authorities have since positively identified the individual as Sanborn.

Investigators said the cause and manner of death remain pending as the investigation continues. Officials also stated there is no known danger to the public at this time.

The case remains active, and no additional details have been released.
