Delphi, IN – The trial for Richard Allen, the suspect in the infamous Delphi murders, has been rescheduled for October 2024 following a recent court hearing.

During the motions hearing on Tuesday, significant concerns were raised about the allocation of time for both the prosecution and the defense. The state had initially sought to restrict elements of the defense’s presentation to the jury. In response, the defense team requested an additional 15 working days, citing worries over the prosecution’s extensive use of trial time. However, Judge Gull held firm on the previously set trial dates, emphasizing the importance of efficient case management.

Judge Gull highlighted her reluctance to “micromanage” interactions between the two sides but noted she would have considered an extension if the request had been made earlier. Despite the defense’s push for more time, the prosecution plans to call 45 witnesses, aiming to conclude by May 25.

The new trial dates now stretch from October 14 to November 15, 2024, as Judge Gull expressed confidence in completing the trial within a month. Upcoming court sessions on May 21-23 in Carroll County will address various pending motions, though specifics remain undisclosed.
