Fort Wayne, Indiana – Police are investigating a death after a woman was found deceased inside an apartment Tuesday afternoon, with a man hospitalized in critical condition following the same incident.
According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:59 p.m. Tuesday to a disturbance call at an apartment complex in the 7900 block of Decatur Road in Allen County, within the Fort Wayne metro area. When officers arrived, they located an adult female and an adult male inside the apartment.
Authorities said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in life-threatening condition.
Investigators say it remains unclear what occurred inside the apartment that led to the woman’s death and the man’s injuries. Police also noted that the relationship between the two individuals is currently unknown, as well as whether anyone else may have been present at the time of the incident.
Officials stated they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public. Detectives are canvassing neighboring apartments for witnesses and reviewing possible surveillance footage, while crime scene technicians continue to collect evidence.
The identity of the deceased woman, along with the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office once confirmed.
