Orland Park Police Officer Injured in Traffic Incident Outside Gospel Concert

Orland Park, Illinois – A community service officer from the Orland Park Police Department was injured while directing traffic outside a gospel music concert at Ashburn Baptist Church, located at 15401 Wolf Road.

According to Orland Park police reports incident occurred Thursday evening as the officer was managing the post-concert traffic. A vehicle, driven by an 82-year-old without a valid driver’s license, failed to stop, resulting in the officer being struck and injured.

Following the accident, the officer received medical attention at Silver Cross Hospital and was later moved to Loyola Hospital for orthopedic surgery. The driver faced multiple citations, including failure to yield to an emergency vehicle under Scott’s Law.

In a show of community support, the Village of Orland Park has set up a get-well card for the injured officer. Residents are encouraged to sign the card at the Orland Park Police Department’s lobby at 15100 S. Ravinia Avenue until November 24.
