Putnam County, Illinois – Residents experienced a 3.6 magnitude earthquake early Wednesday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). 

The tremor, which struck at around 4:41 a.m., was centered south of Standard, near the LaSalle County border. Despite its magnitude and the widespread area over which it was felt, no significant damage has been reported. The quake’s depth was estimated at 3.6 kilometers, suggesting a relatively minor impact on the surface. 

Local authorities, including the Granville Police Department, and utility services have not indicated any major concerns following the seismic event.
