Peoria, IL – In the early hours of Sunday, April 28th, a post-prom celebration at Valley Lakes Center in Chillicothe, turned tragic when gunfire erupted among attendees.
Deputies responded to the incident at 13929 N. Ivy Lake Rd. around 12:55 a.m., where they encountered numerous partygoers fleeing the area. A 17-year-old male was found critically injured with a gunshot wound to the head and a stolen firearm from Texas in his possession.
Emergency services rushed the teen to a local hospital as investigators discovered 48 shell casings and bullet damage to a vehicle and trailer at the site. The venue, misled to believe it was hosting a birthday party, was actually the setting for an after-prom party organized by local students.
