Orland Park, IL – Orland Park Police Department responded to a battery call on Jan. 3, 2023, at the 15400 block of Begonia Ct. This seemingly mundane dispute over garbage can placement quickly escalated into an alleged hate crime, leading to the arrest of 68-year-old Terrence P. Clyne.

According to the police report, Clyne allegedly attacked a neighbor following a disagreement about the relocation of garbage cans, with the altercation intensifying due to hateful comments based on the victim’s Palestinian heritage. The situation further escalated when Clyne reportedly assaulted the male victim and then threatened his wife, who attempted to deescalate the conflict.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office, after comprehensive interviews with the victims and witnesses, charged Clyne with one count of a hate crime, a Class 3 Felony, and two counts of Class A Misdemeanor battery. Clyne is scheduled for a court appearance at the Bridgeview Courthouse on January 4, 2024.
