Michigan State Basketball Player Fears Jr. Wounded in Joliet Shooting, Police Investigating

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State University basketball player Jeremy Fears Jr. is recuperating following a shooting incident in Joliet, Illinois, as confirmed by Michigan State Athletics. 

Fears Jr., a freshman at MSU, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg in the early hours of Saturday. The Joliet Police Department reported responding to a shooting at a residence on St. Jude Avenue, where Fears Jr. and a 19-year-old woman were found injured. Both victims were inside the home when an armed male intruder entered and opened fire, striking them. The search for the suspect is ongoing, and the motive remains under investigation. 

MSU’s head basketball coach, Tom Izzo, stated that Fears Jr. had surgery Saturday morning and is in stable condition. Izzo emphasized his commitment to supporting Fears Jr.’s recovery. 

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Joliet Police Department or Will County Crime Stoppers.
