Richmond, IL – A woman has been charged after a child died on Wednesday at a nearby hospital.
According to authorities emergency personnel responded Wednesday to an unresponsive juvenile male in the 9600 block of Hillandale Lane, Richmond. That unidentified child was later pronounced dead at the hospital, sparking a significant investigation.
Officials report on January 3, 2024, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, alongside Richmond Township Fire Protection District, responded to the emergency. Following the investigation into the child’s death, Cara Ullrich, a 45-year-old woman from Round Lake Beach, IL, was arrested. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Department reports that Ullrich had existing warrants for failing to appear for charges dating back to 2020 and 2021, including Violation of Order of Protection, Domestic Battery, and Aggravated Battery.
Details behind the arrest have yet to be fully released. However, newly added charges against Ullrich involve two counts of alleged Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4) and two alleged counts of Endangering the Life or Health of a Child (Class A).
Ullrich is scheduled for her initial court appearance on January 5 at 1:15 p.m. The investigation is still underway, with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office committed to providing updates as more information becomes available.
