Kankakee, IL – More than three dozen students from across Kankakee County and surrounding communities were recognized for academic excellence this spring as Kankakee Community College inducted 35 students into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
According to Kankakee Community College, the induction ceremony was held Friday, April 24, honoring students who achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while completing at least 12 credit hours.
Students inducted represent a wide range of local communities, including Bourbonnais, Bradley, Kankakee, Watseka, Momence, and Wilmington, along with several smaller towns across the region. The honor society recognizes achievement at two-year colleges and provides opportunities for leadership, scholarship, and service.
Phi Theta Kappa is considered the premier honor society for associate degree programs, with more than 3.8 million members worldwide and approximately 220,000 active members across nearly 1,300 chapters.
KCC officials say the college hosts induction ceremonies each fall and spring semester to recognize student achievement and encourage continued academic success.
