Kane County, IL – An Elburn man has been ordered held pending trial after prosecutors charged him with allegedly disseminating and possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
According to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Jonathan Albrecht has been charged with one count of disseminating child sexual abuse material (Class X felony) and one count of possessing child sexual abuse material (Class 2 felony).
Prosecutors allege that on April 23, 2026, Albrecht electronically disseminated a video file containing child sexual abuse material involving a victim under the age of 13.
Authorities said Albrecht was arrested and appeared in court on Sunday, July 12, 2026, where the State petitioned for his detention while the case proceeds. The court granted that request, and Albrecht was ordered held in the Kane County Jail pending trial.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 305 of the Kane County Judicial Center.
According to officials, the investigation was conducted by the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, a collaborative effort between the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office established in 2022 to investigate child exploitation offenses.
The case remains pending.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
