Wheaton, IL – A guided outdoor history experience is set to return to Cantigny Park this Sunday, offering visitors a chance to explore the site’s past while enjoying its scenic grounds.
According to Cantigny, the “History Hike” will take place Sunday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at the Visitors Center, located at 1S151 Winfield Road in Wheaton, DuPage County. The program features a 45-minute walking tour led by a guide who will share stories about the park, its origins, and the McCormick family.
Organizers say the tour will cover key questions many visitors have, including why Cantigny exists, the history behind the First Division Museum, and how the gardens became a central feature of the property. Participants will also visit several notable spots throughout the park during the walk.
The event is free to attend, but advance registration is required. While admission to the program is free, Cantigny notes that standard parking fees still apply for visitors arriving on-site.
Guests are asked to meet their guide in front of the Cantigny Park Visitors Center before the tour begins. The event is weather-dependent and will not take place in inclement conditions.
Cantigny Park, located about 30 miles west of Chicago in the Wheaton area, regularly hosts seasonal events, educational programs, and outdoor activities for families and visitors throughout the spring and summer months.
Those interested in attending can register through Cantigny’s official website.
