Naperville, Illinois – Fire crews responded to two separate structure fires within hours of each other Thursday, April 30, in Naperville, located in DuPage and Will counties in the Chicago metropolitan area.

According to the Naperville Fire Department, the first incident was reported at 5:17 a.m. at a commercial property in the 500 block of South Route 59. Firefighters initially responded to a fire alarm activation and found light smoke and an odor of something burning. The response was quickly upgraded to a general alarm as crews investigated further.

Fire officials said a small fire had been partially extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system. Crews completed a search, overhauled the area, and fully extinguished the remaining fire. Damage was estimated at $100,000, and the cause remains under investigation.

Later that afternoon, at approximately 1:53 p.m., crews were dispatched to a residential fire in the 3000 block of Tusell Street. Upon arrival, firefighters conducted a full assessment and located a fire at the rear of the home.

According to officials, all occupants had safely evacuated before crews arrived. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and contained the damage, which is estimated at $50,000. The cause of the residential fire has been deemed unintentional.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported in either incident. Multiple agencies assisted at both scenes, including local police and city departments.

Officials say the quick response and safety systems, including sprinklers, played a key role in limiting damage and preventing injuries.
