Country Club Hills, Illinois – A court-ordered eviction in a south suburban Chicago neighborhood led to the discovery of multiple firearms and illegal drugs, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were enforcing an eviction on April 28 at a home in the 3900 block of West 171st Place in Country Club Hills, located in Cook County within the Chicago metropolitan area, when they allegedly uncovered a cache of weapons, narcotics, and other items.
Authorities reported finding five loaded firearms, including two allegedly equipped with illegal switches that made them fully automatic. One of the weapons had reportedly been stolen from a shipment en route to Lexington, Kentucky. Deputies also recovered multiple extended magazines, ammunition, and firearm accessories.
Investigators said they also allegedly discovered 75 ecstasy pills, 111 oxycodone pills, seven bottles of promethazine hydrochloride, and approximately 3.5 pounds of cannabis inside the residence.
Four individuals were detained at the scene. According to officials, Jamell Compton, 26, of Harvey, was later charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, including a machine gun, along with multiple counts related to possession and manufacture or delivery of controlled substances. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of obstructing identification.
The remaining individuals were released without charges as the investigation continues. Compton was ordered held in custody following an initial court appearance on Wednesday at the Markham Courthouse.
Authorities also reported recovering stolen license plates, identification cards, credit cards, and a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Pennsylvania.
Officials emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
