Chicago, IL – A 22-year-old Lake Zurich man is facing charges after authorities say he allegedly pointed a firearm at a coworker during an early morning incident Monday at a North Shore country club.
According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 2 a.m. on May 4, Monday, at the Indian Hill Club in New Trier Township, near Winnetka. Deputies say Jacob Chung allegedly displayed a handgun to coworkers before getting into an argument with one individual who told him to put the weapon away.
Investigators said Chung allegedly pointed the firearm at the coworker before leaving the scene in a Toyota Corolla. Authorities later identified Chung as a Lake Zurich resident and coordinated with Lake Zurich Police to locate him.
According to police, Chung was stopped outside his home later that morning, where he was taken into custody until sheriff’s deputies arrived. Officers reported finding a loaded firearm inside his vehicle.
Chung has been charged with misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Following a court appearance Tuesday, May 5, a judge ordered his release from custody.
The case remains under investigation. Authorities emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
