Aurora, IL – The Aurora Police Department’s latest traffic safety campaign, running from November 17-27, proved a resounding success in promoting road safety and legal compliance. This initiative, part of the broader “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” mobilizations, saw local and state law enforcement agencies across Illinois join forces to reduce highway fatalities.

During this intensive enforcement period, Aurora officers rigorously monitored moving offenses, equipment violations, seat belt infractions, and child car seat violations. The heightened focus on these areas was driven by a singular objective – to ensure the safety of the community by reinforcing lawful driving practices.

Lieutenant Wolcott of the Aurora Police Department emphasized the campaign’s core message: “We give tickets to remind everyone that wearing seat belts is the law, not just a suggestion.” He praised the effectiveness of the high-visibility enforcement tactics employed in this year’s campaign, stressing their role in fostering a culture of careful driving within the community.

This Thanksgiving enforcement effort, funded by federal traffic safety grants administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, forms a crucial part of the ongoing statewide campaigns aimed at curbing impaired driving and promoting seat belt usage.
