ILLINOIS RECORD: 19k tests in 24 hours, average 2.3k daily cases last 12 days

Illinois has now passed a record for COVID-19 testing efforts, announcing on Sunday 19,417 tests had been ran in the State in the past 24 hours.  Among those, 2,994 new cases were announced on Sunday by the Illinois Department of Public Health.  Illinois announced 63 new deaths from COVID today, bringing totals since the pandemic began to 2,618 deaths statewide.

In the course of the last 12 days, Illinois has averaged 2,328 COVID-19 cases announced, per day as testing efforts have increased.   

To date, there have now been 61,499 COVID-19 cases in Illinois across 97 of Illinois 102 counties.  On Sunday afternoon, 4,701 Illinois residents were hospitalized due to the pandemic.  Of those, 1,232 were in the ICU with 759 of those patients on ventilators.

In the Southwest Suburbs Region Hospital network, ICU utilization remains at 82% with ventilator usage down to 43% in our area. There are over 248 ventilators of 433 available as of Sunday afternoon.
