COVID-19: Kankakee County now 400+ COVID-19, 17 announced Sunday, 3 teens

Ages 20-29 now third highest reporting group in County with 63 cases reporting

Kankakee County Health Department Officials announced Sunday 17 new cases, including 3 teenagers in the County.  That brings case totals for Kankakee to 415 since the pandemic began.  Recoveries in the county have gone unchanged since Friday, remaining at 101.

One new death was announced Sunday afternoon by the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office, bringing death totals for Kankakee County to 30.  Earlier this afternoon, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 2,994 new COVID-19 cases.  Over the past 12 days, the state has averaged 2,300 new cases of the pandemic a day.

Age brackets 50-59 now lead the County in reporting with 74 positive cases.  Ages 40-49 in second with 65 cases reporting followed by age 20-29 which climbed into third on Sunday with 63 cases reporting.

Four county zip codes announced an increase in case counts, per IDPH today, including Kankakee, Bradley, Chebanse and Pembroke.
