Riverside Healthcare in Kankakee will be offering free COVID-19 testing to Kankakee residents tomorrow, May 8th from 8:30 am to 2 pm. Testing will take place at King Middle-Grade School at 1440 E. Court Street in Kankakee.

The announcement comes just a day after an infant in Kankakee tested positive for COVID-19.

Riverside asks residents to bring proof of residency and a mask to the testing. Testing will take place in resident’s vehicles so there is no need to exit on arrival. Riverside expects test results to be available three days after testing is completed and accessible through their MyChart program, a free service anyone can join.

Riverside has already completed mass testing for free in Pembroke and Sun River Terrance last week. The Hospital completed testing for all employees at the Village of Bourbonnais on Wednesday. Next Monday, the Healthcare provider plans to test residents of Iroquois County for free at their Watseka campus. The effort is part of Riverside’s goals of testing 3,000 residents per week to gather a true sample size of the infection in the area.

Riverside’s CEO Phil Kambic announced last week he’d like to test at least half Kankakee County before any reopening begins.
