BOURBONNAIS – An entire family nearly drowned while out for a walk over the weekend at Perry Farm near the mouth of the Indian Caves in Bourbonnais.
Area officials were called the scene shortly after 10:30 am Sunday after a family of four ended up in the River while out for a walk near the Indian Caves at Perry Farm. Bourbonnais Fire, Bradley Police, and Kankakee County Sheriff’s officials all assisted on the scene and managed to rescue two of the family members.
Two of the other family members never resurfaced after slipping under the water.
The rescued members of the family were taken to a local hospital for treatment by police.
Earlier this year, a Matteson man lost his life after fishing in the Kankakee River. His body was later recovered nearly 70 miles away near the Dresden Lock and Dam in Morris.
A recovery search is expected to take place later today.
