COVID-19: Over 1k COVID-19 confirmed in Will County, 44 dead

Will County Health Department officials announced this afternoon 44 lives have been claimed to date by COVID-19.  The County now hosts 1012 total confirmed cases, with Joliet leading the way with 211 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Cases have infected ages 5-90 years old.

Earlier this afternoon, Silver Cross Hospital announced nearly all of their ventilators were in use at the facility as it’s currently servicing 75 patients at their New Lenox location.

Among town case counts in the County, notable numbers include:

  • 211 cases in Joliet
  • 120 cases in Bolingbrook
  • 106 cases in Unincorporated areas
  • 62 cases in Crest Hill
  • 53 cases in Romeoville 
  • 41 cases in Plainfield 
  • 33 cases in Homer Glen
  • 35 cases in Naperville
  • 36 cases in Lockport
  • 31 cases in Frankfort and University Park
  • 27 cases in Shorewood
  • 20 cases in New Lenox
  • 17 cases in Mokena and Crete

All other areas in the county currently fall below 15 cases as of April 9th. As of tonight, over 439,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the U.S.
