Mesa County, CO – A high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle out of Wyoming ended Wednesday night along Interstate 70, resulting in one arrest after multiple attempts to stop the driver.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, when a stolen vehicle was identified near Horizon Drive and I-70. A De Beque Marshal attempted a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly refused and fled eastbound on I-70 at high speed.
Law enforcement agencies working with the BATTLE West Task Force tracked the vehicle between Palisade and Cameo. Officials said deputies deployed a tire deflation device near Cameo, but the driver allegedly continued driving before a Grappler device was successfully used to bring the vehicle to a stop.
Authorities removed two adults from the vehicle. The driver was identified as 25-year-old Truman Bryant of Utah, who was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility.
He faces multiple charges, including second-degree motor vehicle theft, vehicular eluding, reckless driving, speeding, driving without a valid license, and failure to obey a traffic control signal.
A female passenger in the vehicle was not charged and was given a courtesy ride to Clifton, according to officials.
The BATTLE West Task Force, a partnership between local and state agencies, coordinated the response. No injuries were reported, and no additional suspects are being sought at this time.
