Sweetness Sweeps Bourbonnais for Chocolate Tour

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District welcome the fourth annual Chocolate Tour on Saturday, February 1, 2020. 350 participants will explore Village of Bourbonnais businesses while indulging in sweet treats at each location from noon to 5 p.m. Those who visit 36 of the 40 business stops are eligible be entered into a grand prize drawing for a 14k rose gold chocolate quartz necklace, courtesy of Andaul Jewelers. Kankakee Economic and Community Development Agency (ECDA) Office Awarded a Subgrant Census 2020 Participation Grant

The Mayors Caucus announced its 33 municipal subgrantees who were awarded the MMC 2020 Census Participation Grant. This award came after ECDA outlined a number of census outreach tactics for our historically undercounted populations and will work to support a complete count for the City of Kankakee. Kankakee ECDA was awarded along with municipalities such as Aurora, Joliet, Elmhurst, and others.

Manteno Chamber of Commerce High School Scholarship: Applications Available

The Manteno Chamber of Commerce takes pride in awarding two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors, one male and one female. These scholarships are awarded to any high school senior that resides in Manteno. The scholarship criteria are based on the applicant's scholastic achievement, interest in continuing education and career goals, participation and leadership in school and community activities, and reputation for good citizenship and moral character.

State of the State: Ethics Reform Priority

The Governor stressed that the state’s historic progress must not be hampered by corruption and self-dealing and urged the General Assembly to pass comprehensive ethics reform, including a ban on lawmakers lobbying any unit of government, more disclosure of conflicts of interest with stiff penalties for withholding information, and a revolving door prohibition for lawmakers.
