The one-hundred seven heat index didn’t stop football fans from coming out to the Friday Night Lights Fest on Friday. The second-annual family-friendly football festival was held at BrickStone Brewery Production Facility in Bourbonnais, IL. The event was put on by the Kankakee Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Village of Bourbonnais and the Kankakee County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The festival is a community-wide pep rally and football field event presented by Bear Construction.
Later tonight, the community-wide pep rally known as Friday Night Lights Fest will celebrate the return of the 17th Chicago Bears Training Camp held in Bourbonnais since 2002 that starts next week.
During the July 15, 2019 city council meeting, the city council voted 13-0 to approve the refunding of general obligation and sewer bonds which total approximately $975,000 in savings to the City of Kankakee. Alderman Larry Osenga (R-3) was not in attendance.
As the Village of Bourbonnais prepares for the return of the Chicago Bears Training Camp at Olivet Nazarene University, traffic flow into and out of the heavily-attended event is taken into consideration. Today, Monday, July 15, 2019, temporary stop signs have been placed at the corner of Armour Road and Stadium Drive to help alleviate traffic congestion. These signs will be removed at the conclusion of the training camp. Motorists are reminded to use caution at this intersection and take note of the temporary signage.
