“We Count 2020” Census Campaign Kick-Off Event
Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk will provide an opening keynote address on the importance of getting a complete count for the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census. The event will also feature a presentation by the U.S. Census Bureau on the basics of the 2020 U.S. Census, and by the Spanish Community Center on outreach efforts to hard-to-count populations of the community.

Iroquois County Animal Rescue invites you and your Pit Bull this month to it’s special $25 Spay/Neuter event at ICARe. Two dates are available, August 13th and August 27th with dropoff at 7 am at Iroquois County Animal Rescue.
Identity Theft Community Event
Join the First Bank of Manhattan and First Bank of New Lenox on August 24th for a free Shredding and Food Drive! The event will take place on August 24th at the First Bank of Manhattan and again on September 14th from 9:30am-11:30am. It’s asked you bring a non-perishable food item for donation to local food pantries. All documents will be shredded on site, limit fifteen boxes.

Seventeen Kankakee Community College student-athletes have received NJCAA honors for their academic achievement during the 2018-19 school year.

The D'Arcy Buick GMC Route 66 Classic returns to Route 66 Raceway on August 17, 2019. The event will pay homage to the early days of drag racing and hot rod culture, presenting the ultimate trip down memory lane for all. Fans will be treated to a blast from the past as they walk through the gates of the World’s First True Stadium of Drag Racing and leave the world of 2019 behind.
City of Kankakee Welcomes New Police Officers
The city of Kankakee welcomed two, new police officers during this week’s city council meeting. Patrolman Jonathan Golden and patrolman Mario Martinez proudly stood beside Mayor Chasity Wells-Armstrong as Kankakee police chief, Frank Kosman, introduced them before the council.
