Locally, the Manteno St. Baldrick’s event has raised over $630,000 and shaved over 850 heads in its 8 years, all in the name of curing pediatric cancer. Paul Mitchell the school Bradley will be on hand to take care of all of the head shaving duties. The local school provides all of the equipment and brings their community outreach team of students to help the event run smoothly.

Second Illinois 2019 Novel Coronavirus Case Identified

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), and Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH), along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), are reporting the second confirmed case of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) in Illinois. The individual is a man in his 60s and is the spouse of the first confirmed travel-related case in Illinois. He had not traveled overseas but interacted with his wife upon her return from China. This is the first person-to-person spread of the virus in the United States.

Manteno Chamber of Commerce High School Scholarship: Applications Available

The Manteno Chamber of Commerce takes pride in awarding two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors, one male and one female. These scholarships are awarded to any high school senior that resides in Manteno. The scholarship criteria are based on the applicant's scholastic achievement, interest in continuing education and career goals, participation and leadership in school and community activities, and reputation for good citizenship and moral character.
