The City of Kankakee invites you to the lighting ceremony in Downtown Kankakee next Tuesday, Feb 4th from 4:30-5pm with a reception to follow at Grapes & Hops at 251 S Schuyler Avenue.
This year, Illinois saw the first decrease in five years in opioid overdose deaths. Despite this decrease, opioid overdose deaths among white residents in Illinois decreased 7% in 2018 while deaths among African Americans increased 9.1% and deaths among Latinos increased by 4.3%.
The changes are required for one and two family dwellings and will be enforced in all smoke and carbon monoxide inspections. They include alarms in all sleeping rooms, outside of each separate sleeping area, and near fuel-burning appliances or fire places.
Among the projects funded included butterfly gardens, pollinator gardens and various outdoor classrooms across the state. No grants were awarded to schools in Iroquois, Will or Kankakee County.
