Kankakee, IL – Captain Eric Boness has been appointed as the Kankakee Fire Department’s Deputy Fire Chief effective February 1, 2020. Boness has served in the department for 29 years as Shift Commander, Company Officer, Training Officer, and EMS Coordinator. In 1999, Boness was promoted to Lieutenant and to captain in 2005.
“These valentines are a small token of our appreciation for the great service and sacrifice our veterans made to protect us and keep us safe," Parkhurst said. “This is the fourth year for this program and so far it overwhelmingly inspires our residents to show their love by giving back to our veterans who gave so much for us.”
The state’s unemployment rate is +0.2 percentage points higher than the national unemployment rate reported for December 2019, which was 3.5 percent, unchanged from the previous month. The Illinois unemployment rate was down -0.6 percentage point from a year ago when it was 4.3 percent.
“Having a fully staffed ECDA is already reaping benefits for the City. I have worked very closely with Barbi Brewer-Watson, Executive Director and her team to maximize our grant dollars, recover any funding owed to the City and prioritize our work. As we continue to move Kankakee Forward, we will utilize resources to improve the every day lives of our residents and community. The recovery of funds is a testament to the hard work of the ECDA team and brings great news for the City of Kankakee,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.
