KANKAKEE COUNTY, IL – Reel Justice Fishing Club, a program of the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office, has announced its 2023 season schedule.

This year, the fishing club will expand to new locations, providing a free and positive activity for kids and adults.

Reel Justice Fishing Club is more than just a fishing club; it is a restorative justice initiative focused on prevention and intervention. The program is fully supported by grant funds and community partners to offer a safe and fun environment for area youth alongside their parents, parental figures, mentors, and other persons of influence in their life.

The Club will host regular activities beginning in May ranging from skill clinics and conservation education to fishing derbies and scouting local hot spots. This year, they will host events countywide, including new locations like the Bourbonnais Municipal Pond and Azzarelli Pond in Kankakee.

All equipment, including poles, tackle, and bait, will be provided for free. Fishing will begin at 5:00 PM, with a brief educational moment at 6:00 PM, and will run until 7:30 PM. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.

For more information, interested individuals can visit the State’s Attorney’s website or email JROWE@K3County.net. Reel Justice Fishing Club aims to provide a positive and engaging activity for area youth and their families, promoting community engagement and restorative justice practices.
