KANKAKEE, Ill. – Get ready for a one-of-a-kind musical journey as the B. Harley Bradley House presents “An Evening with Mike Block” this weekend. Renowned cellist and vocalist Mike Block will take the stage on Friday and Saturday, offering a captivating performance that combines his exceptional musical talents with the iconic architectural designs of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Mike Block, a member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble since 2005, has gained recognition for his cello and vocal solo performances, as well as his compositions and arrangements. His contributions to the ensemble even led to a Grammy Award in 2017 for their album “Sing Me Home.”
Block’s passion for both music and architecture has driven him to embark on a unique tour that explores the exquisite living spaces created by Frank Lloyd Wright. “I actually wanted to be an architect for much of my childhood, and FLW was one of my biggest inspirations,” Block explains. “This tour is a fun way for me to bring my two passions together and share them with a like-minded audience in an intimate and beautiful environment designed by Frank Lloyd Wright himself.”
For those attending “An Evening with Mike Block,” the experience will begin at 6 p.m. when the doors open. This early access allows guests to select their preferred seats for the concert while enjoying a welcoming beverage. Following the performance, Block will engage with the audience, offering personal comments, and a reception will be held.
