South Bend - Double Homicide Reported on Bissell Street

South Bend, IN – The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Officers responded to a report of a large fight in the 1300 block of Bissell Street at approximately 11:25 p.m., a call which was later updated to a shooting.

Upon arrival, police discovered three victims suffering from serious injuries. Two of the victims were pronounced deceased at the scene, while a third was transported to a hospital and remains in critical condition. Authorities have stated that the identities of the victims will be withheld pending the notification of next-of-kin.

Michiana Crime Stoppers noted that they do not track caller ID or IP addresses. Tips that lead to an arrest or the resolution of a homicide case may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500.
