Bloomington, IL – Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Crash at Empire Plaza Shopping Center

A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday afternoon in the parking lot of the Empire Plaza Shopping Center in Bloomington, according to police.

According to the Bloomington Police Department, officers responded at approximately 1:52 p.m. to the 1600 block of East Empire Street for a crash involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian. The Bloomington Fire Department also arrived at the scene.

Authorities said the pedestrian suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the McLean County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy is pending, and no additional details have been released.

The Bloomington Police Department, McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team, and the McLean County Coroner’s Office are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
