Ohio Valley – Bitterly cold temperatures and dangerously low wind chills will hit the Ohio Valley tonight, creating hazardous conditions for residents. The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for parts of Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, with wind chills expected to plunge as low as -20 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio, actual temperatures tonight will drop to around -7 degrees, with wind chill values making it feel much colder. The advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Residents are urged to avoid prolonged exposure outdoors, dress in layers, and bring pets inside. Frostbite could develop on exposed skin within 30 minutes.
Roads, especially along major routes such as I-70 and I-75, may become hazardous due to the cold. Drivers are encouraged to check road conditions and travel with emergency supplies. While no significant snowfall is expected tonight, patchy snow showers earlier in the day could leave icy spots on roadways.
Looking ahead, temperatures will slowly improve by Wednesday afternoon, with highs reaching around 19 degrees. However, wind chills will still feel like -17 in many areas. Thursday may bring a slight chance of snow flurries with highs near 29, and conditions will improve further by Friday, reaching a high of 26 degrees under partly sunny skies.
Residents should continue to monitor forecasts for updates and use extra caution when traveling or spending time outdoors during this extreme cold. Stay tuned to local weather alerts for any changes in conditions.
