Little Rock, AR – A strong cold front will sweep across Arkansas today, plunging temperatures and ushering in dangerously low wind chills overnight. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned residents to prepare for freezing conditions and gusty winds that could make travel hazardous.

According to the NWS, temperatures will drop rapidly this evening, with readings in Little Rock falling to the mid-20s by midnight. Wind gusts up to 30 mph will push wind chills into the single digits across northern Arkansas. Light snow showers may develop in higher elevations, with accumulations expected to remain under one inch.

Sunday will bring continued cold, with a high near 31 degrees in Little Rock and wind chills lingering below freezing for much of the day. Areas across northern Arkansas could see wind values dipping as low as zero. Residents are advised to bundle up and limit outdoor exposure.

The bitter cold will persist through early next week. Monday’s high will barely climb to 33 degrees, while nighttime lows remain in the teens. A gradual warming trend is expected by Wednesday, with highs near 40 and sunny skies.

Drivers should exercise caution on bridges and overpasses, as icy spots may develop overnight. Stay updated on conditions through local weather alerts and prepare your home and vehicle for freezing temperatures.
