Texas Panhandle – A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of the Texas Panhandle and Cimarron County, Oklahoma. The advisory is in effect from midnight Friday through midnight Saturday. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Amarillo, affected areas include Dallam and Hartley counties in Texas and Cimarron County in Oklahoma. Residents in towns such as Dalhart, Hartley, and Boise City should anticipate slippery road conditions.

Snow is expected to begin late Friday night and continue steadily through Saturday. Forecasters caution that travel may become hazardous due to slick roads and reduced visibility. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds and allow extra travel time.

Road condition updates are available through state hotlines. For Oklahoma, call 844-465-4997. Texas drivers can access updates at 800-452-9292. Officials remind travelers to check conditions before heading out and to keep emergency supplies in their vehicles.

While snowfall accumulations remain moderate, impacts could still disrupt plans, especially for early Saturday travel. Residents are encouraged to clear walkways and monitor local weather updates.

The NWS emphasizes the importance of taking precautions ahead of the storm. Stocking up on essentials and staying off the roads during peak snow hours are advised.

This is the first significant snow event of 2025 for the region. Residents should plan accordingly for winter weather impacts through Saturday night.
