Nashville, TN – Middle Tennessee residents should prepare for a sharp drop in temperatures this weekend, with single-digit lows and a chance of snow flurries. Friday will be mild, but a strong cold front will bring freezing conditions by Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service, light rain showers are expected Friday night into Saturday. There’s a low chance of snow accumulation on the Cumberland Plateau, but temperatures will drop drastically by Sunday. Highs on Sunday will struggle to reach 31 degrees, with gusty winds creating an even colder feel.

By Monday morning, the region will see dangerously low temperatures in the single digits. Even daytime highs Monday and Tuesday will remain below freezing. The I-40 and I-24 corridors may face icy conditions, increasing the risk of accidents. Travelers should drive cautiously and stay updated on road conditions.

Residents are urged to protect people, pets, pipes, and plants from the extreme cold. Bring pets indoors, insulate pipes, and cover outdoor plants to prevent damage. Local officials recommend limiting outdoor exposure and checking on vulnerable neighbors.

Looking ahead, the cold snap will persist through Wednesday, with a slow warm-up midweek. While snow accumulation remains unlikely, icy roads and freezing temperatures make this weather pattern hazardous.

Stay tuned for updates, and ensure you have a plan to stay warm during this extended freeze.
