Albany, NY – Temperatures across the Albany region are set to remain bitterly cold this week, with highs struggling to rise above the 20s and overnight lows dipping into the teens. Residents are advised to bundle up and prepare for gusty winds, particularly midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday will remain overcast, with a high of 25 degrees. Northwest winds will pick up overnight, bringing gusts of up to 22 mph and dropping temperatures to a low of 14. On Tuesday, cloudy skies will persist, with another high of 25 degrees. Wind chill values could dip near zero, with gusts reaching 33 mph.
Wednesday’s forecast brings partly sunny skies, though the temperature will struggle to climb beyond 22 degrees. Gusty winds will remain a concern, making outdoor activities uncomfortable. By Thursday, highs will reach 21 degrees, but conditions will turn blustery, with potential gusts of 30 mph.
A slight warm-up is expected Friday, with a high of 28 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Nighttime lows will hover around 17 degrees, offering some relief as the weekend approaches. Saturday and Sunday will see highs nearing 30, with sunshine returning to the forecast.
Drivers should use caution, especially on icy roads like I-87 and local highways, as freezing temperatures may create slick conditions. Residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure and dress in layers to protect against the cold.
