A cold front is set to bring freezing temperatures and frost to parts of Central Florida, with residents urged to prepare now. Volusia and Lake Counties are under a cold weather advisory from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday. Temperatures could fall to the mid-30s, with wind chills as low as 25 degrees, posing risks to people, pets, and plants.
According to the National Weather Service, this will be the coldest night of the week for much of the region. Patchy frost is likely, especially in northern areas. Residents should protect sensitive plants and ensure outdoor pets have warm shelter. Frost risks decrease by mid-morning Tuesday as temperatures gradually rise.
Hazardous marine conditions will persist today, with gusty northwest winds up to 30 mph along the coast. Beachgoers face a moderate risk of rip currents. Swimmers should exercise caution or avoid entering the water entirely.
Tuesday’s high is forecast to reach just 60 degrees under mostly sunny skies, but wind chills will keep conditions feeling colder. Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, temperatures will drop again to the low 40s, with lighter winds and clear skies.
Looking ahead, the cold trend will continue through midweek. Highs will remain in the low 60s through Thursday, with clear skies dominating. Gradual warming is expected by Friday, with highs nearing 70 degrees.
