Amarillo, TX – Warmer days are ahead for Amarillo as temperatures climb to near 60°F by Thursday. Sunny skies will dominate the area, marking a significant shift toward seasonally mild weather.

According to the National Weather Service, highs will range from 55°F on Wednesday to 61°F Thursday, with calm conditions across the region. Thursday’s winds will pick up slightly, reaching 10 to 15 mph, but skies will remain clear, making for an excellent day to travel or spend time outdoors.

The mild trend continues into the weekend, with Friday expected to hit 63°F and Saturday reaching a high near 60°F. Sunday could be the warmest day of the stretch, with temperatures climbing to 66°F under sunny skies. Overnight lows will stay near or above freezing, ranging from 30°F to 37°F.

Drivers along I-40 and throughout the Amarillo area can expect dry, safe road conditions through at least early next week. Weekend travelers should plan for mostly clear skies and light winds.

While the return of sunny skies brings relief from recent cooler conditions, residents are advised to remain cautious of fluctuating wind chills, especially during overnight hours. Layered clothing is recommended for early morning or late-night outings.

The extended forecast predicts clear weather will persist into Monday, with highs staying comfortably in the 50s and 60s. Take advantage of the sunny days ahead to tackle outdoor plans or holiday errands.
