Houston, TX – Southeast Texas residents should prepare for significant weather changes as a cold front moves through the region early this week. Freezing conditions are expected by Tuesday morning, with temperatures likely dropping below 32°F across the Brazos Valley and Piney Woods areas.
According to the National Weather Service, scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms will continue through Saturday and Sunday, with patchy fog reducing visibility during evening hours. Highs will hover around the low 50s, while overnight lows remain near 50°F. Monday brings a brief warm-up, reaching highs near 67°F, before the front sweeps in overnight.
The cold front is projected to drop temperatures to 40°F Tuesday morning, with parts of rural areas dipping below freezing. By Wednesday and Thursday mornings, freezing conditions will likely impact roadways, crops, and outdoor pipes. Residents in vulnerable areas should wrap exposed pipes, bring pets indoors, and avoid overnight travel when temperatures reach freezing.
Rain chances diminish after Monday, bringing clear skies and sunny conditions by midweek. Highs will climb back to the mid-50s on Wednesday and Thursday, offering a break from the damp start to the week. However, another cold front may bring snow chances to parts of Texas by next weekend.
Drivers should remain cautious, especially along highways like I-45, as wet roads and dense fog could create hazardous conditions. Monitor weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during peak freezing hours.
