Minneapolis, MN – Minnesota residents will enjoy a temporary break from the bitter cold as temperatures climb into the upper 40s today. Mild conditions with partly sunny skies are expected to continue through Sunday, offering a brief reprieve before colder air and snow chances return midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, Saturday’s high in the Twin Cities will reach 48°F, with calm west winds around 10 mph. Sunday will stay mild, with highs near 41°F under mostly cloudy skies. Overnight lows this weekend will dip into the upper 20s to low 30s, staying above seasonal averages.
However, an Arctic blast is set to arrive by Tuesday, bringing highs in the low 20s and subzero wind chills across much of the region. Northern Minnesota could see scattered snow showers Monday, primarily along and north of I-94. Minneapolis could experience light flurries late Monday evening, though accumulation is unlikely at this time.
Travelers and commuters are encouraged to prepare for slippery conditions as temperatures drop sharply midweek. Winds could gust up to 30 mph Monday night into Tuesday, adding to the chill factor.
By Wednesday, highs will struggle to reach 15°F, with overnight lows plummeting to single digits. Forecasters warn that prolonged exposure to these temperatures without proper precautions could lead to frostbite or hypothermia. Residents are urged to dress in layers, limit outdoor activities, and ensure pets are protected.
