AURORA, Ill., Nov. 19, 2024 — The Aurora Lions Club raised $1,000 during its annual Great Pumpkin pancake breakfast fundraiser held Oct. 26 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Aurora.

The event, which served about 180 diners, featured pancakes, sausage, mini donuts, and beverages. Attendees also enjoyed raffles, youth vision screenings, face painting, balloon sculptures, and bean bag games. Sneakers and eyeglasses were collected for recycling.

Proceeds will benefit Lions’ programs for the vision- and hearing-impaired. Volunteers included Aurora Lions members and students from East Aurora High School’s DECA Club and Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps.

Celebrating over 100 years of service since its founding in 1922, the Aurora Lions Club continues to support causes including vision and hearing health, diabetes prevention, and childhood cancer. The club meets at noon on the first and third Thursdays of the month at Pomegranate Restaurant in Aurora and welcomes prospective members.

Lions International, the world’s largest service club organization, has more than 1.42 million members in over 48,000 clubs worldwide, offering humanitarian aid since 1917.
