Wilmington, IL – Firefighters responded to a blaze on East Country Road in Wilmington on Tuesday evening. Crews arrived at the two-story home around 6:30 p.m., where they found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the structure.
According to local fire officials, the Wilmington Fire Protection District quickly called for backup as the situation escalated. Units from Braidwood, Elwood, Channahon, Minooka, and Coal City arrived to assist with containing the fire. The combined effort helped prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby structures. The cause of the fire remains under investigation as officials work to determine what sparked the flames.
During the response, firefighters rescued a pet from the home. Authorities have not yet reported any injuries to the home’s occupants or emergency responders.
