Springfield, MO – Missouri residents should brace for a relentless heatwave with little relief in sight. Next week, the region will experience intense heat and dry conditions, with heat indexes expected to soar upwards of 110 degrees.

According to the US National Weather Service in Springfield, upper-level high pressure will dominate early next week, leading to hot and generally dry conditions. Afternoon highs are forecasted to range from the upper 90s to around 104 degrees by Tuesday. The jet stream and main storm track will remain well north of Missouri, contributing to the extreme temperatures and lack of precipitation.

For the upcoming weekend, the weather will be mostly sunny with slightly cooler and drier air. Highs will range from the upper 80s to mid-90s, and lows will be in the 60s. Tonight’s forecast predicts mostly clear skies with temperatures between 66 and 69 degrees.

Saturday and Sunday will see highs between 89 and 94 degrees, with mostly sunny skies. Saturday night temperatures will drop to the mid-60s. By Sunday, temperatures are forecasted to reach 92 to 96 degrees.

The National Weather Service advises residents to monitor agricultural, fire, and water interests closely as we head into August due to the prolonged dry conditions. Rain chances will be minimal across southwest Missouri and southeast Kansas over the next seven days, with many areas expected to see no rain at all.
